QBE is proud to combine its support for the New Colombo Plan (NCP)  with our ongoing support for the Indigenous community and youth development through QBE’s sponsorship of the first Indigenous NCP fellow.

Announced at the NCP Scholarship Awards event by Foreign Minister, The Hon. Julie Bishop, QBE is sponsoring Miles Archibald from Guyra, as the first indigenous NCP fellow for the program. Miles will be travelling and studying in South Korea and QBE looks forward to providing a range of professional development opportunities for Miles and other NCP scholars.

QBE has been an active business champion of the NCP since its inception in 2014, supporting the program by hosting interns, providing development opportunities for students, and participating in the program’s interview panel.

QBE Australia and New Zealand Chief HR Officer, Sally Kincaid, said:

As a global company with a strong presence in the Indo-Pacific, QBE strongly supports the New Colombo Plan’s objectives of building and strengthening links between our regions.

“We recognise the importance of active participation by the business community in the program to provide students with valuable opportunities to learn new skills within a professional environment. Likewise, interns are a valuable source of talent and innovative thinking.

“Our sponsorship further demonstrates our commitment to providing opportunities for and developing Indigenous talent, in addition to our Career Trackers program.

“QBE is one of the largest underwriters in the Indigenous community and we’re so proud to sponsor the first Indigenous NCP fellow. Miles has already demonstrated he is not just a talented student, but has pursued opportunities in the corporate world. He has already expressed a keen interest in international business, having joined study tours to Indonesia, China and Hong Kong.

“We look forward to supporting Miles and the other NCP fellows as they take this next exciting step in their career development,” she said.

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an initiative of the Australian Government that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake professional experiences in the region
