QBE Foundation supports the supporters at Sydney Swans match

QBE treated volunteers and employees from Brainwave, Camp Quality, The Big Issue, The Kids’ Cancer Project, Assistance Dogs Australia and Foodbank to a well-deserved day out at the Sydney Swans vs Fremantle game on Saturday.

The QBE Foundation partners and their guests joined Swans’ charity partners and QBE staff to enjoy food and entertainment before the match in QBE’s Club room at the SCG.

QBE Foundation Chair Sally Kincaid said the day marked an opportunity for QBE to give back to the givers and celebrate the achievements of the QBE Foundation and its charity partners.

“This special occasion gives us the opportunity to provide our QBE Foundation partners a much-needed day of fun as well as celebrate their momentous contribution to their respective causes.

“We truly appreciate how generously these wonderful individuals give their time, talent and energy to others and hope this gesture goes a small way to show our gratitude for all that they do in our communities.”

Ms Kincaid said that each partner had achieved overwhelming success in 2017.

“We’ve seen our partners achieve so much this year – and are incredibly proud to have supported these amazing efforts.

“Brainwave have generated record numbers in their fundraising efforts –raising more than 1 million dollars and recruiting a record number of volunteers to support their efforts to end brain cancer.

“Significantly, Camp Quality have educated and entertained thousands of children across Australian schools around kids cancer with their puppet program.

“Foodbank have provided more than 31 million meals to hungry Australians this year so far -  while Assistance dogs Australia have placed a record number of dogs to support people living with physical disabilities, autism, post-traumatic stress and dementia.

“Quite astoundingly, The Big Issue have turned 21 this year and over that time, their street vendors have sold a very impressive 11 million magazines, putting more than $25 million into the pockets of homeless and disadvantaged people to date.

“Last but not least, The Kids Cancer project have driven funding for a critical DFMO research trial bringing them another step closer to releasing better and more efficient treatments for suffering children.”

The QBE Foundation has supported its charity partners and additional causes with more than $500,000 worth of grants and hundreds of volunteer employee hours this year alone.
