New Marine National Manager for QBE

QBE Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Air to the newly created role of National Manager, Marine Specialty Risks (MSR), effective 8 December 2015.

Tim joined QBE in 2011 and has more than 25 years’ experience in the marine insurance market, working across underwriting, claims and sales. Prior to this appointment, Tim was QBE’s Underwriting Manager, Marine for Victoria and Tasmania.

QBE Australia’s General Manager, Specialty, Chris Harnett, said he was proud to promote a new leader from within the team to take the MSR business forward.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming Tim to the Specialty leadership team and working with him to identify ways to further grow our MSR business in Australia,” he said.

“Tim’s skills are well aligned to the objectives of this role, and his expertise will be key as we continue to focus on our existing partnerships and develop growth opportunities in the Marine insurance space.”

Tim will continue to be based in QBE’s Melbourne office.

In other changes for the MSR team, General Manager Neil Hiller will be leaving QBE in the New Year to take up a new opportunity.

“On behalf of the whole team at QBE I’d like to thank Neil for his contribution to QBE over the past six years and wish him well for the future,” Mr Harnett said.
