Creative communication earns QBE Australia international award

QBE Insurance Australia is proud to be a winner of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) 2016 Gold Quill Awards. The Awards recognise business communication excellence globally and are acknowledged as one of the most prestigious awards programs in the industry.

QBE’s Internal Communications team received a Merit Award in the Publications category for their initiative People of QBE.

Launched in May 2015, People of QBE shares the diverse talents, interests, hobbies and backgrounds of QBE employees, to celebrate diversity, foster collaboration and promote networking by helping people make connections.

Bettina Pidcock, Executive General Manager, Marketing, QBE Australia, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have received this award for People of QBE. Key to the initiative was reinforcing the message we want our people to feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work.

“Who we are is about more than what we do at work and it’s these different life perspectives that contribute to the strength of our organisation.

“It’s a testament to the team’s creativity and commitment that their work met this high standard – a great accomplishment for them and for QBE.”

Evaluators particularly look for entries where communicators are able to demonstrate the impact their work had on business goals and are innovative and unique.

Monika Lancucki, ABC, Chair of the IABC Awards Committee, said: “The Gold Quill Awards are unique in the industry because they recognise work that makes a significant contribution to business or organisational outcomes.

“Also, unlike many other awards programs, evaluators review each entry against IABC’s standard of excellence rather than against other entries. This encourages the pursuit of excellence rather than competition.”

This year’s awards recognised 223 entries as world class, with 85 Excellence Awards and 138 Merit Awards announced.

Winners were from all parts of the globe, with 12 countries represented in the winners list, and 17 recipients from Australia.

The team will receive a Gold Quill trophy in recognition of their efforts. The IABC 2016 Gold Quill Awards will be presented at IABC’s World Conference, to be held in New Orleans, 5-8 June. More information on World Conference is available at: http://wc.iabc.com/.
