Louise McLoughlin - Executive Assistant
"Everyone I've worked with directly at QBE has been an incredibly strong leader. Along the way I've been provided with some great opportunities to develop.
My current role is supporting the Chief Risk Officer. The opportunity came up after taking on a secondment to support two senior leaders. The secondment was a good way to learn more about the other business units within QBE and get some experience working at a higher level.
An average day is really broad. I manage schedules, emails, agendas, and work closely with senior leaders and the Board. I do find it exciting to be working with people who are working on major local and global projects and get a lot out of supporting them along their journey. That energy flows through to everyone who assists, because we all play a part in the end result.
Before joining QBE my previous role was as a Personal Assistant in the education sector and, although it was a bit of a transition coming into a corporate environment at first, I quickly adapted. I've found the culture can vary depending on which business unit you're a part of, but in every team I have worked it has always been engaging and provided me with the learning experience I came to QBE for. There's always something interesting happening across the organisation. It's inspiring working with very high performers – and that's a great thing to be a part of.
I've also had the opportunity to complete a number of courses and participate in networking events, but it's more than that. I love being an executive assistant and, now I've had the opportunity to work in a different area and support different leaders, that's something QBE has made possible."
