Tim Wills - Assistant Business Development Underwriter, Marine Specialty Risk
"QBE is certainly an enjoyable place to work, and it's a really good environment. The work-life balance within QBE is excellent.
Graduates that join QBE are included in a lot more day-to-day responsibilities. There appears to be much more trust in staff compared to people I've spoken to in other industries. It's refreshing to be able to turn up and do the work I'm doing.
I was lucky to get into Marine Claims after my graduate program rotation. The rotation was my first exposure to the marine area. It's very specialised. During my time here I've found that people in the business take an active interest in your development. There's a collaborative focus and everyone is more than willing to help you out – which is fantastic.
Since joining I feel like I've been given a lot of autonomy. If you had told me when I was a graduate that in 3 years I'd be running relationships for over 1000 brokers I probably would have laughed at the idea. I've travelled to Perth and Brisbane on business and that proves to me that there's a strong trust element. It shows that QBE are willing to allow a young person like me to travel, look after clients and develop relationships. Being able to do that has been a fantastic opportunity for me.
Overall I've found QBE to be a really fun, friendly and relaxed environment. A place where if you put in the work and effort, you'll get rewarded for what you do."
