Dimitri Griek - Client Account Manager, Trade Credit & Surety
"It's been a fantastic process coming through the Graduate Program. They take you through all the different areas of QBE and you get excellent hands-on experience as well.
You're challenged during the Program as there are a number of different rotations, overall that's quite an exciting thing to go through.
It helps that the Program assists you in identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Graduating with a commerce degree with an accounting major and coming into QBE I first thought I'd like to be in underwriting or an analytical type of role. After completing the Program, an opportunity arose in relationship management for which I applied, so I took a position in Trade Credit. The Program gave me a good understanding of QBE's structure, it's definitely not a program just to get you in the door and then leave you in that one place.
I've been at QBE close to three years and it's been very rewarding. In terms of fitting in, you feel like a team member from day one. In my current role I'm not at a desk for long. I'm out of the office three days a week. You're encouraged to get out and meet clients face-to-face.
There's a strong mentoring culture here. There's been a big push in mentoring younger employees, and that definitely shows from senior management right the way down. I've found the support base here great, and my line of managers very supportive. They're all very approachable.
I would definitely recommend the Graduate Program to anyone considering it. QBE provides the tools a graduate needs to excel in their career path."
