Kate & Mark's story
Round 23 of the 2015 AFL season was a memorable day for the Sydney Swans as they beat the Gold Coast Suns. Even more so for Kate and Mark, long-time supporters of the Swans, as they made the ultimate commitment to each other on the same ground they watched their team win countless games. Kate and Mark were picked from over 200 entries for the 'Ultimate commitment made possible by QBE' competition to be celebrated on the hallowed turf of the Sydney Cricket Ground.Watch their story
Since her husband's death and now dealing with her own health issues, Judy became unable to maintain her once-glorious 1500 square metre garden at her home, she has owned for nearly 60 years.Judy had tried to hire overgrown-garden specialists, however she says they “just disappeared after a little while of trying to do it.” It was too much for them, and it was certainly too much for Judy. When The QBE Foundation heard about this, we made a commitment to make it possible for her and her dogs Benji and Betsy to enjoy natural light in their garden once again.Read Judy's story
Slim has lived a remarkable life. He served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) during WWII, watched the first man land on the moon, was alive when the Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened and after a long career in real estate built his sturdy house in Tasmania over 30 years ago. At 90 years of age Slim has lost 99% of his eyesight, so after a 20 tonne tree tore through his home during a wild storm, QBE was 100% committed to rebuilding it just how he remembered.Read Slim's story
