Making A Claim

Workers Compensation Insurance

Report claims early

If one of your employees suffers a work related injury, you need to:

  • ensure first aid is provided to the injured worker
  • call an ambulance if emergency medical treatment is required
  • ensure the injured worker attends a doctor for treatment in cases where the injury is not an emergency but medical assistance is required
  • report notifiable injuries to WorkCover NSW
  • make an early notification of the injury to QBE as soon as possible, but within 48 hours for any significant injury claim (S144(2) WIMS Act 1998).

You can report any claim using the QBE First Contact form or contact your nearest QBE Workers Compensation Branch.

This will also allow QBE to review the claim under the Provisional Liability provisions of the Workers Compensation Act.

How to make a claim

To make a workers compensation claim, you will need to:

If an early notification has not been lodged with QBE, it is in your interest to report the injury within five calendar days to obtain the benefit of a nil claims excess for this injury. For significant claims, notice should be provided to QBE within 48 hours.

Once you have notified QBE of an injury, we will implement our case management strategies and assess the claim and notify you of the liability decision.
