About Residential Builders Warranty & Owner Builders Warranty

This type of insurance is compulsory for all residential building works carried out by a licensed or owner builder, depending on each state, and covers the owner or any subsequent owners of the property during the warranty period.

Residential Builders Warranty insurance covers loss or damage resulting from non-completion of work, loss of deposit or breach of statutory warranty. Cover may be triggered due to:

  • death of the builder
  • disappearance of the builder
  • insolvency of the builder.

In New South Wales, cover may also be triggered if the builder has not satisfied a money order issued either by a court or tribunal.
