IMPORTANT PRIVACY INFORMATION

QBE's process and approach to verifying customers' demerit point status has been developed in consultation with the Motor Accidents Authority and the NSW RTA. It is designed to reward good drivers with no demerit points.

QBE's demerit point status verification process strictly adheres to privacy laws.

Important Information

  • QBE does not receive any information relating to a customer’s demerit point status until it has obtained the customer’s consent to do so.
  • QBE and its agents are required to seek permission, both online and over the phone before verifying a customer’s demerit point status.
  • After obtaining the customer’s permission, a secure electronic interface between QBE, its agents and the RTA confirms if any demerit points are currently recorded against the customer’s licence. The RTA simply confirms demerit status; it does not provide QBE with any details associated with demerit offences. 
  • QBE keeps a record of the customer’s demerit point status.
  • At no time does QBE know details of an individual’s driving record (e.g. number of points lost).
  • QBE does not keep any personal licence details e.g. licence number.
